Micron Technology has announced a $200 billion investment to expand U.S. semiconductor manufacturing and research operations. The company will allocate $150 billion for memory manufacturing facilities in Idaho, New York, and Virginia, and $50 billion for R&D. This expansion will create approximately 90,000 jobs, secure 40% of Micron's DRAM production in the U.S., advance domestic AI capabilities through high-bandwidth memory packaging, and strengthen America's position in global technology. Construction on various facilities will begin throughout 2024, with DRAM production in Idaho scheduled to start in 2027.
