Reliance to Set Up 1-Gigawatt AI Data Centre in Andhra Pradesh

Major Investment in AI Infrastructure

Reliance Industries has announced plans to establish a 1-gigawatt Artificial Intelligence (AI) data centre in Andhra Pradesh, marking a significant step in India's digital transformation. The facility will be designed to host the world’s most advanced processors, including GPUs, TPUs, and other AI-specific chips, positioning Andhra Pradesh as a hub for cutting-edge technology and innovation.

Sustainable Energy Integration

To ensure the AI data centre operates sustainably, Reliance will also develop a 6 GWp solar power project in the state. This initiative will double Andhra Pradesh’s current ground-mounted solar capacity and contribute over 30% of the state’s renewable energy, unlocking its vast solar potential. The solar project underscores Reliance’s commitment to clean energy and environmental sustainability.

Greenfield Food Park in Rayalaseema

In addition to the AI data centre, Reliance will build a Greenfield Integrated Food Park in Rayalaseema. This world-class automated facility is expected to generate several thousand direct and indirect jobs, creating sustained income opportunities for thousands of families. The food park will further boost the region’s economic development and food processing capabilities.

Collaboration and MoU Signing

The state government and Reliance Industries signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for these projects in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Minister for IT & Industries Nara Lokesh, and PMS Prasad, Executive Director & Member of the Board, Reliance Industries Limited. The collaboration highlights the state’s intent to foster innovation, clean energy leadership, and inclusive growth.

Empowering Communities with AI

Reliance emphasized its mission to democratize access to artificial intelligence, delivering pro-level AI tools to students, farmers, entrepreneurs, and families through the MyJio platform. The company aims to empower communities and drive inclusive growth, ensuring that the benefits of AI technology reach a broad spectrum of society.

Reliance’s Commitment to Andhra Pradesh

Reliance has already invested over USD 25 billion in Andhra Pradesh across oil & gas, digital services, and retail. The new AI data centre and associated projects represent a continuation of this commitment, reinforcing Reliance’s role as a key player in the state’s economic and technological advancement.

Future-Ready Facility

The 1-gigawatt AI data centre will be a fully modular, future-ready facility, designed to host the world’s most advanced AI processors. It will operate as a twin to Reliance’s gigawatt-scale AI data centre in Jamnagar, together forming one of Asia’s strongest AI infrastructure networks.

Impact on Innovation and Growth

These landmark announcements mark a new milestone in Andhra Pradesh’s journey of innovation, clean energy leadership, and inclusive growth. The projects are expected to attract further investments, create high-skilled jobs, and position the state as a leader in AI and renewable energy.
